Oldham Roughyeds 28-12 Batley Bulldogs

An almighty defence performance helped Oldham Roughyeds to their second victory in this season’s Kingstone Press Championship. Batley pushed the Roughyeds to the limit but the hosts didn’t buckle at any point. The hosts led 12-2 at half-time after tries from Richard Lepori and Liam Johnson. A Pat Walker penalty goal was all that Batley could muster from the first 40 minutes of play. Three consecutive tries from Scott Naylor’s men helped them to an insurmountable advantage heading into the final quarter. Jamel Chisholm bagged a brace and Sam Gee also got on the scoresheet as the Roughyeds coasted to victory. Batley did respond with 10 minutes remaining when Wayne Reittie touched down before Tom Lillycrop crossed the whitewash himself.
