Rohan Smith witnessed his first Bradford Bulls game at the Provident Stadium on Sunday and he took in a rather feisty affair in the first half before his new side ran away with the victory in the second. The Bulls’ Danny Addy and Swinton’s Josh Barlow were both sin-binned in the first half after a brawl which was a long time coming. Bradford went into half-time with a 20-0 lead and the scoring started in the seventh minute courtesy of James Clare. Addy couldn’t convert. Omari Caro and Adam Sidlow both got on the scoresheet soon after with Addy only converting one of those scores. Barlow and Addy were sent to the sin-bin in the 32nd minute but the Bulls did score in the absence of their half-back as Clare touched down. Oscar Thomas converted the try.
Four tries in the opening 12 minutes of the half for Bradford put the result beyond any doubt. Kris Welham, Addy, Thomas and Tom Olbison all crossed the whitewash for the hosts as they went out into a 44-0 lead. Swinton did respond with two tries of their own in the space of three minutes courtesy of Liam Marshall and Rhodri Lloyd. Chris Atkin didn’t convert either try. Bradford mustered two more four pointers in the final quarter of the game through Lee Gaskell and Caro.
