Halifax moved into the Kingstone Press Championship top four with their victory over Dewsbury Rams at the Tetley’s Stadium. It was the hosts who scored the first two tries of the afternoon through Scott Hale and Dale Morton. Once Fax get going, they’re hard to stop and they also ended the half with two tries to their name. Gareth Moore and James Saltonstall registered a try apiece inside the last three minutes of the half and, with one successful conversion from Tyrer, the visitors had the lead heading into the second period.
Halifax managed to extend their lead on 49 minutes as prop forward Mitch Cahalane barrelled over the whitewash to the delight of the visiting fans. However, things turned a bit sour for Cahalane soon after as he was sin-binned alongside Dewsbury’s Matt Groat. In the pair’s absence, Tyrer kicked a penalty goal to make the score 18-8 to Richard Marshall’s side, who saw the game out in style courtesy of a Connor Robinson try with five minutes to go.
