2017 Fearless NRL Premiership Predictions

We’ve asked our writers to predict who they predict will win the 2017 NRL Premiership.

Here’s what they think.

DAN WHITE (Writer since 2016)
Headline: Cowboys to ride high

“The loss of Tamou is overstated and the core of the team is still there with some interesting young talent for 2017”

HANNAH MCGRORY (Writer since 2015)
Headline: Panthers next in line for Premiership Glory

“I think the Panthers are next line especially how they performed last season”

JAMES MORGAN (Writer since 2015)
Headline: Big Four to take Storm to title

“They’ve got a big four now with both Munster and Slater there and fit in addition to a pack that’s probably the most consistent in the comp”

BRANDON LEE (Writer since 2015)
Headline: Green Machine fire with big Dave Taylor

“Not since 08 and 09 has an NRL team made back to back grand finals let alone win so that rules out Sharks and Storm. If Ricky can get Dave Taylor firing the Raiders can only get better and take out the title”

JON KROITER (Writer since 2015)
Headline: Roosters recruitment key to Premiership

“I’m going with an upset here. Strong spine with the additions of Gordon and Keary. Plenty of talent coming through the ranks with Butcher, Watson and Matterson to create plenty of depth. 2016 wasn’t an accurate guage of their capabilities”

SHANNON MEYER (Writer since 2015)
Headline: Panthers to pounce

“Hard to choose between them and Canberra. Both play great style of footy. Just don’t trust Ricky Stuart to get Canberra to the title”

SAM DASEY (Writer since 2013)
Headline: Sharks won’t defend and Raiders deserve favouritism

“I don’t think Cronulla can go back to back either, but purely on the loss of Ennis.  I will put the mocker on the Raiders and say they will win it”

MATT PRITCHARD (Editor, Writer since 2013)
Headline: 2016 Cardiac kids to deliver Panthers premiership

“Anthony Griffin has laid the foundations for a huge 2016.  Don’t expect a repeat of the cardiac kids.  Watch out for the “Entertainers”.  That’s if they can get competition points on the board in the early rounds of the season”

TIM COSTELLO (LeagueUnlimited.com)
Headline: Storm driven by Grand Final loss to make amends
“They still have the right players in the key positions and will be aiming to go one better next season. Even losing some key players including Kevin Proctor, Bellamy’s ability to unearth and quickly develop fringe players into solid first grade prospects is second to none”
