St Helens stalwart Jon Wilkin faces a race against time to secure his future at the Totally Wicked Stadium, as he has been named as one of seven players who are off-contract at the end of the current season.
The 34-year-old has been a crucial part of the club’s foundations since making his debut back in 2003, with the forward racking up 407 appearances so far.
Despite being involved on 14 occasions so far in 2018, Wilkin is yet to agree to a contract extension, with other club’s now free to discuss potential deals with him.
He has been a great asset for Saints over the years, as his versatility has seen him cover at halfback on numerous occasions.
At 34, though, his best rugby may be behind him, which could be why a deal hasn’t already been wrapped up for him to continue under Justin Holbrook beyond the current season.
Also out of contract is fellow first teamer Dominique Peyroux, who is in his third season with Saints after making his debut in 2016.
The centre, who can also double up as a back rower, has 61 appearances to his name and has crossed for eight tries, with two of them coming this term.
Jake Spedding is also on the list of players yet to sign a new deal, having spent the majority of the season on dual-registration with Sheffield Eagles.
Ricky Bailey has been on loan with another Championship outfit and looks unlikely to secure a contract extension, having featured just three times this season for Leigh Centurions.
Completing the list are youngsters Ben Morris, Robert Fairclough and Liam Cooper, who are all free to talk to rival clubs if they wish to do so.
