In sensational news out of last night’s Canberra Raiders loss to Penrith Panthers, Ricky Stuart has become the first coach to be charged for dangerous contact.
The National Rugby League Match Review had no option but to sanction Stuart after he kicked an innocent GIO Stadium chair through the air as his frustration boiled over at his side’s inability to close out matches. The poor chair needed to undergo a HIA test after being knocked out with twenty seconds left in the Raiders 23-22 loss.
Stuart with an early guilty plea will be free to coach in their next match against Wests Tigers, Sunday week.
Sources close to the Raiders camp suggest they’ll contest the charge, and in the same breath would like to blame the chair for his side’s loss.
The video is quite conclusive.
If only it was true!
