FOUR POINTERS | Intrust Super Cup Round 4

Matt Crowhurst has all the latest Intrust Super Cup news in our Four Pointers wrap.

Three weeks for Politoni brain snap

There’s no place for a punch like that in football or society. Bottom line, this kind of single punch, where the other party isn’t ready can, and have, been fatal.

We don’t know exactly what was said and happened in the moments before, and Michael Parker-Walshe will have to take responsibility for his actions. The judiciary will dealt with him, handing out a three-week ban. Parker-Walshe ended up with one game on the sidelines. Equally bottom line, it doesn’t actually matter what he did or said, there is no excuse for Politoni’s reaction and he needs to spend an extended period on the sideline.

Tough times

These are tough times for one Intrust Super Cup club. Their Cup team is performing well below expectations and last week members of their Colts side failed in house cocaine tests. The club is doing everything in their power to keep the whole mess out of the public eye.

Things will even out

The Hunters have had a tough start to the season, but it’s worth remembering that four of their first six games are away from home (where they aren’t traditionally strong). They will get better with time and if that improvement coincides with the inevitable run of home games then they will represent a substantial challenge to any team they face.

Off-field Injury sidelines Tigers

Another good win for the Easts Tigers in Round Three, however it may have slipped some people’s attention that the win was achieved without two key players. Inspirational leader Jake Foster and defensive rock Shane Neumann we’re both absent. Foster is the biggest concern, he injured his hand in an off field accident and is seeing a surgeon this week. A two to three month absence is on the cards.

And just another thing…

Broncos contracted half Tom Dearden made his Intrust Super Cup debut on the weekend and looked more like a 50 game veteran than a teenager in his first game. Fellow Broncos prodigy Tanah Boyd was mysteriously absent for Souths Logan in their heart breaking loss Redcliffe Dolphins. It will be interesting to see where he appears in the weeks ahead.
