Magic Round was great. Highly entertaining, but damn did we get some bad injuries. Here’s our look at Fantasy for Round 10.
Storm vs Tigers
Jahrome Hughes is out after that sickening high shot from Maika Sivo, although Hughes going off with concussion showed us how good Ryan Papenhuyzen can be. He was electric when he came on and was a points per minute monster. He gets the starting spot this week so could be a great pick up mid season if he can force his way into the starting side for the rest of the season. Curtis Scott also suffered a broken leg in his return to first grade and will be out a while. He’s replaced by Marion Seve although Sandor Earl is on the bench and could play a part in the backline. Cameron Smith remains one of the best captaincy options in the game.
No real changes. Robbie Farah has cooled down after a try scoring spree to start the season.
Panthers vs Warriors
Changes to a very disappointing Penrith. Josh Mansour and Regan Campbell-Gillard are out of the 17. Ben To’o starts on the wing, Liam Martin at lock, Dylan Edwards back at fullback and Waqa Blake back at centre.
Issac Luke, Adam Blair and Chanel Tavita-Harris are on the extended bench again. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is still a main target at fullback as he won’t play Origin.
Broncos vs Roosters
Massive blow with Jack Bird out for the season with an ACL injury. Kotoni Staggs joins Gehamat Shibasaki in the centres with Jamayne Isaako recalled to play on the wing. James Segeyaro will play his first game for his new club off the bench in a brutal kick in the nuts for those of us who bought in Jake Turpin last week. James Roberts is on the outer and named in the reserves again while Payne Haas continues to be a monster and looking more and more like a keeper in the forwards.
Boyd Cordner is out with a concussion and replaced by utility Mitch Aubusson, who should never be bought into a fantasy team for any reason. Great player but a fantasy Black Widow. Latrell Mitchell went down with what looked to be a bad groin injury but ended up coming back on, so keep an eye on final team lists just in case. Ryan Hall is named on the extended bench but it’s hard to see anyone forcing their way into such a dominant team.
Titans vs Bulldogs
AJ Brimson replaces injured Michael Gordon at fullback and Jesse Arthars retains his place on the bench. Tyrone Roberts returns at 5/8 while Shannon Boyd plays off the bench and Fotuaika will start at prop. Jai Arrow is still scoring good points and Bryce Cartwright still has more money to make.
Keiran Foran and Jack Cogger swap places in the halves, which makes no difference anyway. Corey Harawira-Naera starts in the back row and Danny Fualolo replaces Adam Elliot at lock. Rhyse Martin will play off the bench.
Cowboys vs Eels
No changes except Granville being named to start with Baptiste coming off the bench, although this could change. The time to buy Jason Taumalolo is now or next week.
Few changes after the destruction last week by the Storm. Will Smith starts at 5/8, Reed Mahoney starts with Pene Terepo moving back to the bench, Manu Ma’u moves to lock and could be a good POD if he can find his form from a few years ago and Josh Hoffman come back into the side to play centre.
Raiders vs Rabbitohs
Bailey Simmonsen replaces Jordan Rapana on the wing. Hudson Young played big minutes in the John Bateman role and looks like he could be a fantastic mid season cash cow if he can keep up the same output. Josh Hodgson doesn’t look like he will find his old form as I’d hoped and it might be time to let go if you took a punt on his like I did.
Corey Allan is back at fullback to replace the injured Alex Johnston. Cameron Murray and Adam Reynolds are both great options at Souths although could both possibly play Origin.
Dragons vs Knights
No changes for the Dragons although Korbin Sims could make his way back into the 17. Blake Lawrie is very close to his peak and should be traded unless you think he could be a keeper on the bench.
Knights also unchanged. Kalyn Ponga and Mitch Pearce are the best options from Newcastle, with David Klemmer still enjoying his good form in the front row.
Sharks vs Sea Eagles
No changes for Cronulla. Andrew Fifita went down early against the Titans but has been named to start. Hopefully it wasn’t too serious, but on the plus side his price may drop a little if you were still waiting to buy him. He’s a must have again this season. Briton Nikora is still the best centre option, and Kurt Capewell is another good one, but Wade Graham is due back very soon so someone will lose minutes and I’m assuming Capewell will lose the starting spot and may even share minutes with Nikora, which would suck for most of us who have Nikora or even both of them.
Dylan Walker returns from being stood down. He’s quite cheap so is an option in the centres (I traded Jack Bird for him). There’s not a great deal of options at centre (as usual), and Walker could be a cut price keeper if he can find his old form or even possibly move into the halves.
Good luck this weekend!
