EDITORIAL | Eight Down, Eight to Go

GOLD COAST (4-20) = Since 1988, the various Gold Coast teams have had some shocking seasons, but 2019 was bad even by their low standards. They won just four games, lost their last eleven in a row, lost their coach Garth Brennan, and inherited the wooden spoon (the Titans’ second) from the improved Bulldogs. The Titans were so bad they finished eight points behind the fifteenth-placed Dragons. The worst part? They belted Newcastle at Robina, and had impressive away wins against Manly-Warringah and Brisbane. It showed the potential that is sadly being squandered.
