Arguably the greatest try ever scored in the competition came in the year 2000 in a qualifying final between St Helens and Bradford which ended in the most dramatic of circumstances.

Bradford were ten seconds away from causing an upset and moving to within one victory of Old Trafford, but Saints had other ideas.

As the hooter sounded, Saints needed to go practically the length of the field to score the try they needed to win the match, and go the length of the field they did.

Sean Long kicked a cross field ball to Kevin Iro who offloaded to Steve Hall, he in-turn offloaded to Sean Hoppe who returned it to Hall who then found Tim Jonkers who played a crucial pass back to Long.

Long broke away and gave it to Dwayne West out wide, West beat a pair of Bradford defenders before sending Chris Joynt over the try line to spark wild celebrations, made all the better given Saints went on to win the Super League title that season.
