New Zealand Warriors have been reported to be on track of announcing the signing of 24-year-old Shark prop Toby Rudolf for the coming season.

With the reports originating from Australia, via Stuffs, we understood that the official announcement from the club will be made very soon, as the 24-year-old front rower prefers a move to the Warriors than signing a new contract with the Sharks.

Right before a temporary lock down was issued due to the effects of the pandemic, the Australian-born prop played in the Sharks’ first two fixtures of the season and he was one of the their best performers during that time. The Sharks head coach had formerly expressed how impressive the 24-year-old prop was during the opening games and was hell-bent on having him on a long-term deal with the club, despite several top clubs lurking around for his signature, with several best daily bet the fans might just be able to bag home some cash for predicting.

Rudolf, who began his professional career in South Sydney, joined the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks back in 2019 right after helping the Redcliffe Dolphins win the Premiership in 2018.

It has been rumoured that Rudolf, who was then about to make his NRL debut, was approached by the Warriors’ recruitment and retention manager Peter O’Sullivan, who had figured out his future potential and his skills, and was convinced that the best move for him would be to join up the Warriors in Auckland.

The report further claims that if the NRL season was not put in a temporary suspension, the Warriors might have finalised and secure the signing of the 24-year-old prop several weeks ago, and with the set to kick back up again, it only a matter of days before the deal can be announced.

Rudolf has already put pen to paper to sign a three-year deal with the Warriors, according to the report, and will be teaming up with Ben Murdoch-Masila as another pivotal front rower for the club as from next campaign.
