WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Wests Tigers

The Tigers didn’t have a good time in the nation’s capital, losing to Canberra in Round One 30-12. The Tigers kept with the Raiders early in the game, unfortunately they were overpowered in the second half.

Sydney Roosters

The Roosters had a great day out of the Sydney Cricket Ground, thrashing Manly 46-4. Everything went the Roosters way with Brett Morris and James Tedesco grabbing hat tricks. The win came at a cost as Jake Friend had a head clash with the Sea Eagles Andrew Davey, and subsequently ruling him out for this weeks game.

PREVIEW

After the way the Roosters played last week it is hard to see them losing to Tigers, but never say never. The Tigers have strike weapons across the park, all of who can cross the try line. They also have an experienced front row, and it will be their job to make sure that they start the game on the right foot and play the whole 80 minutes.

Though there are injuries to some key personnel, the Roosters looked like the team that returned after COVID last year; returning to premiership favouritism, and not the team that limped out of the finals. If Tedesco, Manu and the Morris twins are firing on all cylinders and the forwards are laying a good platform then the Tigers may have the same score put on them as last week.

KEY STAT

The Roosters and Tigers have played 17 times since 2011 and the Tigers have only won twice.

PREDICTION

Roosters to win by 18
