1st Half

The scars from conceding 36 points in last week’s second half still seemed to be hanging over the Dragons as they started slow. South Sydney took full advantage down the middle third with Damien Cook’s second line break leading to a Latrell Mitchell try. The star fullback had minimal impact afterwards, succumbing to a hamstring injury that had been troubling him all week. Matt Feagai looked dangerous down the left flank and Zac Lomax ruined a certain Jack Bird try with an ordinary pass. Souths finally put on another try to Keaon Koloamatangi to take a comfortable lead into the break

2nd Half

The second half started off scrappy and continued the whole way through. The Dragons earned the first attacking set and Moses Mbye scored for them. They immediately lost the momentum through a Zac Lomax error and Souths made them pay with a nice backline move sending Campbell Graham over and reasserting their ten point lead. From here both sides played scrappy footy with the only break in errors coming when it appeared Cameron Murray crossed for the sealer. It was called back for an obstruction play. The errors continued to mount in the closing stages and the Dragons struggled to apply any pressure to claw back the deficit. The Rabbitohs were able to regain their groove after a penalty goal and followed it up with a Taane Milne try in the final few minutes. The Dragons regained the ball off the final kick off and Jayden Su’A added their second try for the match.
