The Rabbitohs came close to winning against the Tigers last Saturday night, but it wasn’t to be. After finding themselves down 16-4 at halftime, the Rabbitohs came out strong in the second half, with Cody Walker twice getting his side in a position to come back and win the game. When it came to the final 40 seconds of the match, and Rabbitohs attacking the try-line, a forward pass was thrown by Campbell Graham.
Dean Hawkins has been named at halfback as Cody Walker will miss the game due to concussion protocols. Tyrone Munro, Michael Chee Kam, and Siliva Havili have been named as reserves.
The Knights and their fans were heartbroken in Sunday’s game against the Sharks. The Sharks raced to a 10-point lead before the Knights ran them down and took the lead. The Sharks drew level in the second half, leading to a field goal shootout. Both teams had chances to win before full-time but were penalised for blockers. Daniel Atkinson kicked the winning field goal in Golden Point.
Tyson Gamble suffered a hand injury in the loss to the Sharks. Jack Cogger takes his place at five-eighth. Will Pryce has been named on the bench. Dylan Lucas returns from a hamstring injury in the centres. Kyle McCarthy moves to the bench.
For the Rabbitohs, this game is about pride. Winning the remaining games of the 2024 season gives them a good note to finish off with, especially with Wayne Bennett coming in next year. The Knights could still make the finals if results go their way, though it shouldn’t have come to that. A win here is a must, especially if Adam O’Brien needs his team to finish higher than 12th to activate his contract extension.
Former Knight Akuila Uate has the record for most tries in a game against the Rabbitohs, scoring four in 2011.
