Date: Friday 20th March

Kick Off: 8.00pm

Venue: Big Fellas Stadium, Featherstone

The Featherstone Lions and York City Knights meet this evening at the Big Fellas Stadium with the Lions home deemed unsuitable by the RFL.

The Lions are coached by former Wakefield half back Jamie Rooney who is looking forward to pitting his wits against professional opposition for the first time in his coaching career.

“It’s a big game and something I’m really looking forward to. It’s a fantastic draw for us and a big challenge but it’s something all the players are buzzing about.

“There’s a bit of extra spice there with Ryan Mallinder, who is a Fev lad, and also their coach James Ford being a former Rovers players so it should be a good tussle. It’s a big game for our boys and probably will be the biggest game they will ever be involved in for the Lions.

“Every single player from 1 to 17 is a local lad. We have players who could definitely play at a higher level and they are looking forward to testing themselves on Friday.”

York come into this game on the back of a 38-24 iPro Sport Cup quarter final defeat at home to Newcastle despite leading 18-0 at one point in the first half.

James Ford will be without Luke Menzies this weekend with the loanee not having permission to play from his parent club, the Salford Red Devils.
