CATALAN BOUNCE BACK WITH EASE

Catalan Dragons bounced back from their dissapointing 25-24 defeat at last weeks Magic Weekend against Wakefield Trinity, by comfortably beating an out of sorts Hull KR, Saturday night in France.

The dominance of Catalan doesn’t really reflect in the final scoreline. The Dragons where comfortable for the majority of the game. They could’ve and definitelyย should’ve scored more points.

The second half performance of KR was much better, a half in which they actually won 10-6. That should give them a bit of confidence going into their next game against Wakefield Trinity.

CATALAN STAY IN THE RACE

After wins from Hull FC, Warrington and Wigan this weekend, it was crucial for Catalan to keep in touch with these teams and stay in the top 4 race. Hull FC stay top on 24 points, while Catalan are now back level with Warrington and Wigan on 22 points.

Catalan where dominant from the start with 2 tries in the opening 15 minutes through Broughton and Carney. The forwards of Catalan where winning the game for them down the middle. Dragons where making easy yards every time they had the ball in hand.

The remainder of the Catalanย tries where scored by Albert, Anderson and a brace for Gigot. The Dragons bombed a few chances in the first half to score more points. However, while defending well in the second, never really poised much of an attacking threat.

KR’S TOP 8 DREAMS FADING

KR, who were without Campese, Minns, Cockayne, Horne and the suspended Allgood, fellย to their 11th league defeat of the season and remain 10th in the league.

KR’s terrible form has be somewhat overlooked because of the Leeds and Huddersfield campaigns. They have had a very poor season, and while they where missing a few big players today, it still doesn’t look good for Hull KR.

While KR are only the 3 points off a crucial top 8th place, with the games they have remaining, you just can’t see them winning enough games to keep up and eventually overtake a team in 8th.

10 YEARS IN THE MAKING

This is by far the best chance that Catalan have had to win the the Super League in years. I’m sure even topping the league and winning the League Leaders Shield would be a huge accomplishment for the French outfit.

It may have taken 10 years to get here, but it could be all worth the wait if they go on to lift a trophy this season.

They have a great side, which is one of the biggest in the league. It is filled with class players across the park and they will be believing they can go on and prove the naysayers wrong.

IN THE SHEDS

There where no injuries to report for Catalan Dragons.

Hull KR’s James Greenwood was forced to leave the field after taking a blow to the face. No further details about a potential concussion or injury was mentioned during or after the game.

There was nothin in the game put on report or anything that you could see the RFL charging a player forย during the week.
