Last Year: 10th – 9 wins – 13 losses – 1 draw

The Intrust Super Cup’s only NSW representative never really threatened to make the finals last year, without being especially bad either, and will be looking to improve on the 10th place finish in 2016. Their season may have seen much more success if Kane Elgey had not got his break for the Titans early in the season.

But the Intrust Super Cup is all about being a pathway to the NRL for players, and Elgey looks an established NRL player heading into his first full season with the Titans.

Someone who looked a future NRL superstar at one stage was the Tweed Heads’ Shannon Walker. With speed to burn, he made the Redcliffe Dolphins look silly in the 2007 Grand Final, and he returns to the club after playing rugby sevens. The fact he could have played at the Olympics this year shows his dedication to the cause of an NRL return.

He may be the X Factor for the Seagulls in 2016, and should be exciting to watch regardless. Combined with last year’s squad and some up and coming NYC players, the Seagulls may be one of the big improvers this season.

Key Matches:
Matches against their fellow Seagulls from Wynnum are always big occasions.
They will also want to remain on top of the Gold Coast sides in 2016 too.
