Match Review

Brisbane recorded their first win of the 2015 season against a Sharks side that showed little creativity in attack that made it impossible to compete with the Broncos on the scoreboard.

It was a typical arm-wrestle in the first 40 minutes of this clash, with Michael Gordon scoring the only points of the half just 4 minutes out from the break via a penalty goal.

The home side’s narrow 2-0 lead was never going to be held for long and the Broncos scored a 4-pointer just minutes into the second half; an ugly fumble from Jack Reed was deemed to have gone backwards by the officials with Oates diving on the loose ball to snatch the lead off the Sharks.

The Sharks had countless opportunities to post points in reply but a number of inexcusable errors deflated their chances every time.

It only got worse for the home side as Sosaia Feki failed to hold the ball during an almost routine return to the field of play and Lachlan Maranta planted the ball down to bank another 4 points for the visitors.

Many attempts at cracking the Brisbane defensive line were unsuccessful by the Sharks, with what was a mixture of brilliant defense and weak attack on the Sharks’ part.

A narrow 10-2 defeat leaves the Sharks winless after two rounds and it gets tougher next week with a daunting road trip to AAMI Park to play the Melbourne Storm.
