Hull FC host St Helens at the KCOM Stadium in round four of Super League this Friday night at 8pm. The match will mark reigning Man of Steel Danny Houghton’s 250th Super League appearance for the Black and Whites as they aim to build on last week’s impressive win against Huddersfield. Saints will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat against Wakefield.
Last time out
Marc Sneyd’s MOTM performance and 20-point haul sealed a great two points for the Airlie Birds. The No 7 was a catalyst in the 48-8 win over the Giants last time out. After leading 24-0 at half time, Hull dominated the game with Albert Kelly getting a brace in a convincing performance by both halfbacks.
On the other hand, St Helens were beaten by a Wakefield side whose late penalty try secured them the win. Coach Cunningham was unhappy with the performance after a disappointing 16-12 loss.
Key battle
Jamie Shaul needs to prove himself this week after a disappointing start to the season. He’ll be up against Tommy Makinson in the fullback position as Jonny Lomax is still out injured. Makinson is a dangerous runner so Hull have to keep a close eye on him.
Prediction
ย Hull are still without captain Gareth Ellis who is still sidelined with a head injury. Prop Liam Watts is still suspended so Jordan Thompson and Masi Matongo retain their places.
Saints are still without Lomax and halfback Matty Smith but Luke Douglas, Greg Richards and Jack Ashworth have been added to the 19-man squad.
Hull will want to continue winning ways and Saintsย need a win after two defeats. Depending which Hull side turns up, it could be a close encounter or a points fest.
