PREVIEW: Wakefield Trinity v Salford Red Devils.
Both sides sit in the middle of the table after a slow start to the 2017 season. A win for either side will see them lifted into a more favourable position in the standings. Both sides come off the back of strong wins and will be looking for a good battle on the field on Sunday.
Last Time Out
Wakefield see three changes to their side that beat St Helens last week. Danny Kirmond drops out with a knee-injury picked up against Saints, but Trinity have the prospect of Mitch Allgood making a Super League debut to look forward to.
Salford recorded a big victory over last years’ Grand Finalists Warrington Wolves in the last round, so will be looking to carry on in good form. They have Justin Carney available for selection this time out as he returns from a two-match suspension.
Key Battle
The Centres could be vital for the Red Devils and Trinity. Junior Sa’u is always troublesome going forward, if he is given too much time on the ball is bound to be a thorn in the Wakefield side on Sunday. However, Trinity have Mason Caton-Brown up their sleeves. The Centre spent some time with the Red Devils last year and will be accustomed to their style of play, he is also becoming a real threat down the wing and could clock up some points on the day.
Prediction
With both teams coming off the back of good wins against big sides, it could be a try-fest. Both teams have some prolific points scorers on hand and it is a big mid-table tussle, with a win being vital for either side. Despite this, I think the Red Devils will have the upper hand, Salford by 12.
