Here’s five talking points from the last seven days across the rugby league world.
5. Rapana’s Raiders return
Back in late October it was announced that Jordan Rapana would join Japanese rugby club the Panasonic Wild Knights.
At the time there were reports the Raiders grand finalist would be blocked from returning to the National Rugby League, with talks that the stint in rugby would complement a lower salary in rugby league this season.
Japan’s domestic rugby season was suspended in late February through COVID-19 and Rapana headed back to Canberra to self-isolate.
This week the Raiders announced that Rapana would return to the club for the rest of 2020. Finally the worst-kept secret was made public.
Unfortunately it’s bad news for Bailey Simonsson, who’s likely to drop out of the starting lineup. He’s impressed in his 23 appearances for the club, scoring nine tries.
