Saints got back to winning ways with a comfortable win against Huddersfield at The Totally Wicked Stadium.
MATCH DETAILS
Huddersfield got off to a quick start and were in the lead within four minutes after Saints were penalised for holding down. Oliver Russell successfully converted the penalty.
It was all Saints after that though and the domination started with Alex Walmsley offloading to Theo Fages after a trademark run. The Frenchman then passed to Coote who crossed the line.
They were in again almost immediately through a sweeping move from left to right found Mark Percival who then dribbled the ball through the defensive line for Jonny Lomax to touch down.
Coote was at the heart of everything and he provided the cut out out ball for Tommy Makinson to score his first try.
Lackadaisical defending from Huddersfield was then taken advantage of from Lachlan Coote as he offloaded to Theo Fages to get in on the scoring.
Fages and Coote then combined again this time to set up Tommy Makinson who strolled in at the corner to make it 26-2 at half time.
Saints got off to a fast start in the second half and Tommy Makinson completed his hat-trick as he took another wonderful pass from Coote.
They completed the rout as Lomax raced in with 20 minutes to go. Saints took their foot off the gas and it ended 38-2.
FOUR POINTERS
1,6,7
The combination seems to get better each week between Lachlan Coote, Theo Fages and Jonny Lomax and at least one of them was involved in every try. Last week Coote and Lomax were rested and you could see the difference between this performance and the London performance.
More ball=more tries
One tiny criticism of Saints this season is that they seem to favour using the left hand side of Mark Percival and Regan Grace which is surprising considering they have a Golden Boot winner on the other side. Makinson is one of the best finishers in the game and against Huddersfield he showed he can score tries with given more opportunities
Lessons will be learnt
Huddersfield have a fairly young side and Dominic Young made his debut for Giants on Friday. The youngsters will take a lot from playing a quality side like Saints.
Play-offs look out of reach
There was a point in the season where Huddersfield looked as if they could make a play-off charge however they are losing to many games at the moment while teams around them like Wigan are improving meaning it is looking unlikely at the minute.
