Fox League To Solve Baffling Ref Calls
The fake news that’s actually fake.
In response to the latest refereeing controversy, Fox League will launch a new one hour panel show, The Decision, airing on Monday nights.
Hosted by Yvonne Sampson and featuring former Melbourne and Sydney Roosters premiership player Cooper Cronk, former Brisbane and Penrith coach Anthony Griffin, and former referee Bill ‘Hollywood’ Harrigan, the panel will analyse a handful of controversial decision from the weekend’s matches and try to explain them to frustrated fans.
“We all know the routine; something bad happens, the referees’ boss issues an apology a couple of days later, but it’s way too late,” said Harrigan. “Fans are sick of the lack of accountability. We’ll try to give them peace of mind.”
Fans are invited to ask questions via social media (@foxleaguethedecision on Twitter, and ‘Fox League The Decision’ on Facebook) and the panel will do their best to answer them.
“We’ve invested in the best analysing software that Uncle Rupert’s money can buy to help explain these crazy decisions to fans, the ones where it seems obvious to even the casual viewer, but is ruled incorrectly,” said Cronk.
“We considered doing a call-in show, but the producers were worried about having to bleep out all the swear words from angry fans,” said Griffin.
“We expect a lot of questions from fans, so that’s why we’re going for two hours, even then we may not get through it all,” said Sampson. “So grab your favourite drink, settle in and have your phone handy to tweet or Facebook us. This is going to be fun.”
