The fake news that’s actually fake.

Canterbury-Bankstown announced a name change for 2018.

Desperate to avoid more bad publicity, the Bulldogs will be renamed the “Cuddly Puppies”.

This is the new mascot:

‘Canterbury prides itself on being the “family” club. We’re sick of the constant jokes and straight-out abuse from opposition fans,’ said Bulldogs CEO Raelene Castle. ‘It’s physically impossible to hate cuddly puppies. It’s a bulletproof name.’

‘Cuddly Puppies? We’ll be the joke of the NRL!’ said Canterbury coach Des Hasler. ‘Though seeing how bad we’ve been this year we deserve to be the laughing stock. I’ll probably be working for Fox League next season so I can laugh along with everyone else.’

Rugby league stats guru David Middleton said the Cuddly Puppies will be the third cutest logo in the game’s history. ‘It’s just behind South Sydney’s fuzzy little leaping bunny and the South Queensland Crushers’ adorable little choo-choo train.’
