Since its inception in 2007 has there been a more controversial finish to a Magic Weekend?

Held at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, the first ever Magic Weekend had plenty of thrills and spills. Day one began with Harlequins edging out Catalans in the opening game, followed by a narrow win for Hull KR in the Hull derby and ended with an impressive win for St Helens at the expense of their bitter rivals Wigan.

Day two began with a pair of large wins for Huddersfield and Warrington respectively before arguably the most dramatic of Magic Weekend matches took place. Bradford Bulls met Leeds in what proved to be an instant classic.

The Rhinos were two points behind with one minute left to play only to be awarded a controversial penalty for offside. What happened next was truly sensational. Kevin Sinfield’s attempted kick came off the underside of the bar and fell perfectly into the arms of Jordan Tansey who touched the ball down to hand Leeds the derby day spoils.

However, replays showed that Tansey was several yards offside when he collected the ball which took the shine off a great weekend of rugby league with more than 58,000 people in attendance over the course of the two days.
