There were no points in the first ten minutes but the Titans had the best of the starting period. They opened their account with a penalty goal and from the next set marched down field for Jarrod Wallace to score off a Dragons mistake from a fifth tackle kick. A Matt Dufty run from a kick return put the Dragons in position to score their first try of the day. Jack de Belin (just coming on the field) combined with Ben Hunt who crashed over under the posts. David Fifita came on 20 minutes into the match and injected himself through a powerful display to cross for their second of the match.

David Fifita was hard to stop in the opening of the second half. He was stopped by desperate defence from scoring his second but from the repeat set Fifita attacked out wide and drew in the defenders for Greg Marzhew to score in the corner. The Titans kept their line in tact through the middle period of the half and as they built their way down field, they constructed a nice try with Jarrod Wallace crossing for his second from an offload provided by Jaimin Jolliffe. Tyrone Peachey was proving deceptive for the Dragons defence and as he went to the line he popped a nice pass for Jarrod Wallace to break through and get it back for Toby Sexton to score on debut. A lovely in-and-away from Cody Ramsey hit a charging Jordan Pereira who sprinted 50 metres down the sideline to cross for a late try.
