MATCH REPORT

1st Half

Dragons were on the board first after a couple of sets defending their line. On their first attacking set they took advantage of numbers on the left with a slick backline movement for Cody Ramsey to score. The Warriors hit back with Tohu Harris crashing over from close range. The Warriors received a penalty from the kick off and were able to score another try off the back of a mistake from Dufty. Nikorima provided the kick and the Dragons fullback failed to ground the ball with Paul Turner getting their first. The Warriors were building nicely and finding cracks in the Dragons defence but the home side scored next through their hulking winger Mikaele Ravalawa. The Warriors heading to break with a well deserved lead, failing to make a mistake.

2nd Half

The opening stanza of the second half saw the momentum swing both ways. Ramsey came close to pulling off a lovely try assist to Jack Bird. The Warriors were able to crack the Dragons defence on the right and rolled through the middle but weren’t able to gain repeat sets. Dragons returned to the lead with a try to Matt Dufty, sprinting through to collect Adam Clune’s grubber kick. Warriors stepped up through their skipper Tuivasa-Sheck, bouncing off a couple of players to cross the line. A mistake from Dufty at the back, and a Dragons player picking it up in an offside position, allowed the Warriors to kick a penalty goal. The Warriors held on for a well earned victory.
