MATCH REPORT

Both sides entered the game 0-2 and were desperate for a win: the Broncos in particular, as they had lost their previous 12 games. The desperation seemed to be evident in the first half, with both sides making way too many errors to get any domination. Neither team completed enough sets to gain momentum and score any points. A lone penalty goal to Jamayne Isaako separated the sides in a disappointing first half.
Both sides seemed to have their opportunities to score points, however were unable to convert them: one in particular to the Bulldogs where Kyle Flanagan couldnโt hold on to a Josh Jackson pass when certain to score.
The half-time score was a reflection of the scrappy, error-ridden first half. At the end of the 40 minutes, the eventual end result was up in the air, with either team having the ability to gain second half strength and power and go on to win.

The early possession of the second half was with Canterbury-Bankstown. The Bulldogs had several sets on the Broncosโ line, however – as has been their problem in recent years – they were unable to score any points.
The Broncos then got some possession but it wasnโt until the 58th minute when some individual brilliance from Isaako broke the game open and the first try was scored. From there, the Broncos gained better momentum, making less errors and scoring another three tries to ensure their first win since July 2020. Their second and third try came within minutes of each other from young gun Xavier Coates.
The Broncos continued to dominate without much competition, scoring one final try to close out the game, coming from Tom Dearden, who had a total of seven minutes on the field.
