Māori Ferns dominate Indigenous All Stars

With the help of their classy spine, the Māori Ferns have defeated the Indigenous All Stars 24-0.

Not even the poor weather could dampen their shine as they dominated from start to end.

The scoring started early when a perfect grubber from Zahara Temara was grounded under the posts by Corban McGregor.

Shortly later, smart work out of dummy half by Nita Maynard saw her put Amy Turner across the line. Another successful conversion to Temara saw them extend their lead to 12-0.

A lost ball to Turner saved the Indigenous All Stars on the brink of quarter time.

The Ferns momentum slowed in the second quarter as the rain affected the game quality, though they still extended their lead when a quick tap off a penalty saw Shanice Parker take off and score with three defenders hanging on.

Slick passes and weakened defence by the Indigenous All Stars saw Page McGregor score after the creation of an overlap to extend the lead in the third quarter.

Errors to the Indigenous side put the Ferns in prime position, helping Raecene McGregor extend their lead to 24 at the end of the third quarter.

Despite being hit hard by the Fern’s barging attack all game, the Indigenous All Stars held on in the final quarter to keep the score 24-0.

Ferns five-eighth Raecene McGregor was awarded player of the match after a standout performance.
