MATCH REPORT
Embed from Getty ImagesJarome Luai has scored a try and set up five others as he steered Samoa to their 72-4 victory over Greece in Doncaster.
The Samoans made light work of the inexperienced Greek side by scoring seven converted tries in the opening forty minutes. It was merely a training run with Brian To’o starting the avalanche in the first set, outleaping Chaise Robinson, finishing with Tim Lafai scoring from dummy half to extend Samoa’s lead to 42-0 after 36 minutes.
There was a slight reprieve for the minnow nation eight minutes after the main break with Lachlan Ilias’ chip kick regathered by second-row forward Jake Kambos, who fired the ball back inside to South Sydney’s halfback for their only try of the night.
Samoa scored another five tries after the break which included the completion of braces to Danny Levi, Chanel Harris-Tavita and Tim Lafai.
They’ll be some concern over a tackle by Jaydn Su’A made on Greek winger Johnny Mitias close to full-time which resulted in a sin bin. The tackle is likely to get some scrutiny from the Match Review.
Samoa can finish second should they beat France at Halliwell Jones Stadium, early next Monday Australian time.
