Match Preview
Hull KR have won four of their last six Betfred Super League games; three of their last five alternately.
Having put in a solid defensive display to beat Leeds Rhinos 26-6, the tables were turned on the Robins in the 50-26 mauling by Warrington Wolves. Such a heavy defeat would leave many a team reeling, but KR arenโt a group who feel sorry for themselves and showed it by bouncing back to triumph over Castleford Tigers 26-22 in a quite sensational game.
So then, Hull KR had scored 26 points in three consecutive games. A trip to Wakefield Trinity came next but, in typical Rovers fashion as their fans would say, the Robinsโ performance levels dropped drastically as they fell to a 28-12 loss against their Yorkshire rivals. Even in more typical Rovers fashion, though, KR once again proved their metal and rose above Leigh Centurions to get back on track โ winning 40-16 in commanding fashion.
Where KR have consistently scored points, Salford have consistently shipped them.
Winless in their last five matches despite registering 70 points in that time, the Red Devils have been unlucky at times โ losing to Wigan Warriors and Castleford Tigers by just a single point โ but they are also weak and lackluster in defence.
Conceding 154 points across five outings is relegation form in brutal honesty. They wonโt be down there at the end of the season, but Salford need to step it up. The look a shadow of the club that went all the way to the Grand Final in 2019. They aim to be in the top eight and need to get their act together if theyโre going to get their season back on track.
Only one of the last five meetings between the two sides has been separated by more than two points, which shows just how evenly-matched the teams are. May 2019 was the last time either side took real control of their meeting โ KR winning 18-32 in the Challenge Cup.
