1st Half

The Tigers started on top with a couple of clean line breaks inside the first five minutes. The match settled into a back and forth with both sides rolling through their sets and kicking deep into corners. The Tigers looked dangerous in attack while the Dragons didn’t make many chances of the few opportunities they had. The Tigers looked to have opened up the scoring through Kelma Tullagi reaching above the defenders and coming down with the Luke Brooks’ kick. On closer inspection the bunker found a knock on though a penalty was awarded to hand the Tigers a 2-0 lead into the break. James Tamou and Luciano Leilua were dangerous for the Tigers while Moses Suli was proving difficult to contain in the first half.

2nd Half

The Tigers came out playing quicker and – similar to the first half – found plenty of metres in attack. They spent the early stages of the half attacking the Dragons goal line but were unable to find the right option to convert it into points. As the Dragons enjoyed a period of healthy possession – and through the pressure applied – were able to crack the Tigers defence for the first try of the match to Ben Hunt. The Dragons started looking comfortable now and the victory seemed secure when interchange player Jayden Sullivan scooted out of dummy half and extended the lead to 10 points. The Tigers finally crossed through Luke Brooks inside the final five minutes but were unable to score again to send the match into extra time.
