MATCH REPORT

Winning the speed of the ruck, two line breaks from Latrell Mitchell got the Rabbitohs down field in a hurry. With the Eels retreating, Cody Walker crashed over for another try. However, on review he lost the ball in the act of scoring.
Following the close call, a penalty against the Eels piggybacked the Rabbitohs back into attacking range. Soon after, they found their second try through Izaac Thompson out wide. The weight of possession and field position was too much for the Eels to manage. Eventually, Alex Johnston finished off a backline spread to grab the Rabbitohs third try.
Trailing 14-0 at the break, the Eels came out of halftime showing positivity, but they couldn’t crack the defence of the Rabbitohs, with frustration starting to show. Rubbing salt into the Eels wounds, the Rabbitohs rolled down the field and scored a try of their own. Alex Johnston picked up his second of the night off a cut-out pass from Latrell Mitchell.
A close call for Maika Sivo summed up the Eels night, as he chased through a kick from Clint Gutherson only to knock the ball on in the act of scoring. Once again, it was the Rabbitohs who had the rub of the green. They ventured into Parramatta territory and Cody Walker got his second try of the night, extending the lead to 26 points.
Despite a concerted effort by the Eels, the Rabbitohs proved too strong, shutting out the Eels in front of their home fans in an emphatic win.
