MATCHDAY PREVIEW
This is an important match for the Cowboys as they look to hold onto second spot on the ladder after last week’s loss to the Roosters. A home game against the Warriors could provide them an opportunity to get back on track as they prepare for a tough final fortnight against the Rabbitohs and Panthers. The Warriors enjoyed one of their best wins of the season last week against the Bulldogs and will be hoping to carry that form into this hard match.
After a bit of a tough year for Shaun Johnson, he was very impressive with two try assists, a line break and a line break assist, while Reece Walsh produced two try assists of his own. The Warriors will need another big game from their halfback as well as their front row duo in Fonua-Blake and Harris who both eclipsed 200 running metres against the Bulldogs. If that pair can get their team on the front foot against a strong forward pack in the Cowboys, the Warriors could be in with a chance.
For the Cowboys, it’s about building momentum heading into finals. At their best, they’re a genuine contender, and they need to make sure they get the job done here against a bottom side. It’s up to the usual suspects in Drinkwater, Townsend and Taumalolo to lead the way to ensure they come away with a win.
