MATCH REPORT
Embed from Getty ImagesCronulla Sharks kept themselves in the top 4 with a less than convincing victory of their fierce rivals at Pointsbet Stadium. The Sharks started strong with Nicho Hynes backing up a strong run with a try inside the opening couple of minutes. The Dragons responded immediately with a try to Jack De Belin when a kick was dropped by the Sharks in the in-goal. The errors continued for the home team and even with the extra man they still looked clunky in attack. They managed to scrap together two more tries for the half through Brayden Trindall and Teig Wilton, taking a 18-6 lead into the sheds. The Dragons started the second half strong, able to take advantage of the extra player to bring the match back to within 6 points. The Sharks continued to be wasteful with the ball and despite the Dragons attack looking slow for most of the half, they were able to score next. The Sharks only try in the second half came from a Dragons error but it was enough to put the match beyond doubt. There was a late rally from the visitors but it came far too late.
