MATCHDAY PREVIEW

The Panthers will be without star halfback, Nathan Cleary for at least the next six weeks after he suffered a hamstring injury last week. Jack Cogger gets first crack to replace him, with Jaeman Salmon joining the bench. For the Roosters, Joseph Suaalii received a three-game suspension for Dangerous Contact, with Corey Allan shifting to the centres and Daniel Tupou returning from injury on the wing.

The Panthers remain on top of the NRL ladder, but didn’t have it easy in a tough win over the last-placed Dragons. The Roosters fought back after letting in two early tries against the Bulldogs, with Luke Cleary slotting a late field goal to seal a 25-24 victory, which puts them just outside the top eight.

It was only four weeks ago that the Panthers demolished the Roosters at Penrith, but with no Cleary, and Tedesco playing one of his best games of the season last week, Roosters will be confident of causing an upset at home.

With Tedesco’s spot as NSW fullback under heavy scrutiny, all eyes will be on his matchup with the in-form fullback of the competition in Dylan Edwards, who many believe should replace him in the side. A dominant performance from the Panthers fullback will only create more questions ahead of Game Two at Suncorp Stadium.
