The Titans swap the sunny beaches of the Gold Coast for the icy cold of the nation’s capital this week, as they travel south to take on a Canberra Raiders side looking to sneak their way into the top four.
The Raiders are coming off a gritty win last Sunday in the club’s first ever appearance at the new Allianz Stadium. Forward leader Josh Papalii suffered a minor hamstring injury during the game, and the club expect him to miss two weeks. Pasami Saulo is promoted to the starting side in his place, with Ata Mariota making his return on the bench. The Raiders scored all three of their tries within a twelve-minute period last week against the Roosters and will look to control the game for larger periods on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Titans are coming off a rollercoaster week. Having shocked the rugby league world by sacking coach Justin Holbrook on Thursday, Gold Coast ran out on Sunday against the table-topping Broncos without captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, getting the win in front of over 42,000 people. To make way, Iszack Fa’asuamaleaui moves to 18th man in their only change for this week’s clash. The Titans’ run home is fairly tough, featuring games against the Eels, Warriors, Sharks, Panthers and Storm. They really can’t afford to drop any winnable games, and this is one of them.
