Report

It was a match where the Wests Tigers were missing Luke Brooks (hamstring) and Api Koroisau (fractured jaw), while the Melbourne Storm were without their Origin stars headlined by Cameron Munster and Harry Grant.

The Wests Tigers had another disappointing night at Campbelltown Sports Stadium where they made more line breaks than the Storm but looked flat in attack in going down 28-6.

Will Warbrick was the star with his first career hat-trick after 53 minutes, and added a fourth with sixteen minutes to go as Melbourne weathered a period where the Tigers threatened after half-time but were unable to convert any field position into points.

The headline out of the game was Alex Twal scoring his maiden NRL try. In his 116th appearance for the Tigers, Twal picked up the scraps from Brandon Wakeham’s crossfield kick sending the small vocal Campbelltown crowd into a frenzy which put the Tigers ahead 6-4 after 24 minutes.

Tigers fans got a glimpse of Tallyn Da Silva who made his debut for the club. The 18-year-old played with plenty of energy in his 35 minutes on the field. Along with the debut of fullback Jahreem Bula earlier in the season, the Tigers appear to be heading in the right direction with bringing in exciting young talent.

Ultimately the difference between the two teams was the control in the halves with the experience of Jahrome Hughes proving the difference with his game management and two try assists.
