Report

Much like the Matildasโ€™ World Cup quarter final being played at the same time, this game between The Dolphins and the Roosters took a while to see any points put on the board.

Whilst both teams managed a few early warning shots, the first four pointer of the match wouldnโ€™t come until over a quarter of the way through. It would eventually be a charging Ray Stone, who received a pearler of a ball from Jeremy Marshall-King at dummy half, who crashed his way over the line in the 23rd minute. Jamayne Isaako would successfully kick the conversion, and 10 minutes later would grab the next points of the match through a penalty conversion.

The Roosters had only 11 seconds to spare before half-time until they finally crossed the line – and secured their first points of the evening – through a nice passage of play that sent Joseph Manu over with relative ease. The goalkicking for the evening remained at 100%, with Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii hitting the conversion well, and leaving the scores at 8-6 The Dolphinsโ€™ way heading into the break.

Unfortunately for The Dolphins, it was like they never returned from the sheds, and their lead would cease almost immediately following the resumption of play.

It took only three minutes for the Sydney side to stroll over through Billy Smith and take the front foot, before things got worse for The Dolphins, with try-scorer Stone sent to the bin. The Roosters capitalised on their time playing against 12 men, scoring two tries: one through Suaalii and one through Drew Hutchinson.

Stoneโ€™s return to the field didn’t really assist The Dolphins as much as would have been hoped, with Hutchinson going on to score his second only 10 minutes later. The Roosters did allow their opposition a late consolation try to Isaako, but it was too little too late as the Sydney side ran away with the victory – with final scores standing at 30-14.
