MATCHDAY PREVIEW

The well-storied battle of south-east Queensland adds another chapter on Sunday when the Brisbane Broncos host their little brother the Gold Coast Titans. While Brisbane historically has had the edge, winning 24 of their 35 total matches, the Titans have had some success in recent years, with five of their eleven wins coming in their last 10 clashes.

Centre Selwyn Cobbo put in a very strong performance filling in at fullback last week, but the return of “Reece Lightning” will be sure to put a bit of extra pep in the step of the Broncos. With blistering pace and boundless amounts of confidence, Reece Walsh is always ready to step up and make the big play when his side needs it and will likely be given plenty of chances to make an impact against the Titans.

The Titans will debut 21-year-old winger Tony Francis in this clash and the young speedster will be looking to make an immediate impact. Francis has a great try-scoring rate in the Queensland Cup, having scored a staggering 38 tries from 45 games. With his impressive combination of size and speed, the winger clearly knows how to find his way over for a try and fans will be hoping this prowess translates to the top level.

The Broncos also welcome back Billy Walters for this clash and expect Payne Haas to overcome an injury scare; while for the Titans, veteran playmaker Kieran Foran will be racing the clock. Josiah Pahulu comes into the starting side for the injured Jaimin Joliffe with Joe Stimson joining the bench.
