The Tigers did well to go with the Dragons in the first half of their round 14 match, going into the halftime break with a two-point lead (14-12). However, their second-half performance was woeful, as the Dragons scored 42 unanswered points to run out winners (56-14), giving the Tigers their ninth loss in a row.
There are a number of changes this week for Benji Marshall’s men. Api Koroisau has been moved to halfback for Jayden Sullivan, who is out with a hand injury. Lachlan Galvin is also out with a hand injury. Tallyn De Silva comes into the starting side at hooker. Aiden Sezar makes his return from a four-game suspension at five-eighth. Winger Solomon Alaimalo is missing due to a head knock, Charlie Staines moves to the wing, with Brent Naden in the centres.
In some good news for the Tigers, Adam Douehi has been named as a reserve. Douehi injured his knee in their round six loss to the Eels last year. Douehi could be a late inclusion on game day.
The Titans didn’t fare much better, losing to the Rabbitohs by 34 points (46-12) in a game where not much went right for them. The Titans started off the season poorly but did start to show what they are capable of with some good wins over the Warriors, Cowboys, and Broncos.
Philip Sami makes his return from a hamstring injury in the centres, with Beau Fermor moving back to the second row. Keenan Palasia moves back to the bench, and Jacob Alick-Wiencke has been named as a reserve.
The return of Aidan Sezar is a big boost for the Tigers, and it will be interesting to see how he and Koroisau go in the halves. Korosiau is no stranger to halfback, having played nine games there for Penrith and Manly and two games for the Tigers last season. They will be up against another inexperienced halves pairing in Jayden Campbell and Kieran Foran. Campbell has played five games at five-eighth, funnily enough, one of those games was against the Tigers in round 15 last season, which the Titans won (28-12). Could that be an omen? The Tigers will be hoping it’s not.
