MATCHDAY PREVIEW

Cronulla put on a clinic in the first half to come away with a comfortable win over the Rabbitohs, flexing their muscle and building towards another top four finish. The Sharks led 20-0 at half-time, and Kayal Iro’s try (started by Ronaldo Mulitalo showing wonderful skill to get out of his in-goal) showed how dangerous the Sharks are across the park. Canterbury had a tight win over Parramatta, defending their 14-4 half-time lead.

However a tough Bulldogs side, looking to begin the year with four straight wins, stands in their way this weekend at Shark Park.

While the Bulldogs will be missing Matt Burton, Viliame Kikau, and Jacob Kiraz, their fierce defence is likely to test Cronullaโ€™s red-hot attack. They were dominant without the ball against Parramatta in a game halfback Toby Sexton said was the toughest heโ€™s played in.

Cronulla have so much strike power across the board, with a forward pack that continues to excel and a halfback steadily getting back to Origin form. Itโ€™s hard to see the Bulldogs winning this one given who theyโ€™re missing.

It’s a 20-20 split between the two sides since 1998, and they split their matches last year: Cronulla won 25-6 in round 2 and Canterbury won 15-14 in Golden Point in round 17.
