Wigan and Warrington both carry on in the same form from Vegas and Leeds continue to struggle in the south of France.

2025 Super League: Round 4 Wrap 2

Round 4 Results

Hull FC 22-22 Leigh Leopards

HULL FC TRIES: Jed Cartwright (9โ€˜), Harvey Barron (51โ€˜), Herman Ese’ese (59โ€˜), Lewis Martin (78โ€˜)
HULL FC GOALS: Jordan Lane x1, Aidan Sezer x2
LEIGH LEOPARDS TRIES: Tesi Niu (12โ€˜), Umyla Hanley (25′), David Armstrong (55′, 66′)
LEIGH LEOPARDS GOALS: Gareth O’Brien x2, Bailey Hodgson x1

The weekend started off with the best game of the round. Leigh visited Hull FC in good form and looked to have their best ever start to a Super League campaign.

Hull FC did not get the memo as they pushed the Leopards all the way despite being down to 11 men in a small period of the contest. Aidan Sezer and Jordan Rapana were both shown a yellow and Leigh looked to control the contest from there.

Hull fought back and Lewis Martin’s last-minute try took it to Golden Point, and without Gareth O’Brien, Leigh couldn’t repeat the feats of last month’s famous win against Wigan, and both sides shared the points.

Castleford Tigers 22-14 Salford Red Devils

CASTLEFORD TIGERS TRIES: Liam Horne (21โ€˜), Muizz Mustapha (43โ€˜), Judah Rimbu (75โ€˜)
CASTLEFORD TIGERS GOALS: Tex Hoy x5
SALFORD RED DEVILS TRIES: Ryan Brierley (36โ€˜), Kallum Watkins (52′)
SALFORD RED DEVILS GOALS: Marc Sneyd x3

Salford’s pains on-and-off the pitch followed them to Castleford as the home side picked up their first win of the season.

Both sides were locked at half-time as they each could only break the defence once in the first 40. Castleford’s bench proved crucial as Muizz Mustapha and Judah Rimbu both scored to confirm the win for the Tigers.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom as Marc Sneyd hit 2,500 career points with his six points at the Jungle and with that, he has scored in his last 13 games against the Tigers.

St Helens 10-20 Hull Kingston Rovers

ST HELENS TRIES: Curtis Sironen (31โ€˜), Jack Welsby (67โ€˜),
ST HELENS GOALS: Mark Percival x1
HULL KINGSTON ROVERS TRIES: Mikey Lewis (10โ€˜), Tom Davies (38′), Oliver Gildart (50′, 53′)
HULL KINGSTON ROVERS GOALS: Lewis x2

Hull KR carried on their perfect start as they breezed past St Helens in their first real test of the season. Man of Steel Mikey Lewis was back after his injury scare at Wakefield and he opened the scoring in this contest.

St Helens’ defence was tested in the first half and they did really well but Tom Davies’ try just before half-time killed the game as the red vee couldn’t catch up with the Robins after that.

Despite the loss, Jack Welsby carried on his brilliant start to the season with a try and an assist, taking his total to 13 try contributions in the first four rounds.

Catalans Dragons 11-0 Leeds Rhinos

CATALANS DRAGONS TRIES: Reimis Smith (43โ€˜,72′)
CATALANS DRAGONS GOALS: Arthur Mourgue x1, Luke Keary (DG)

Leeds Rhinos carried on their poor form in Catalans with a loss to give the Dragons their first points of the season. September 2022 was the last time that the Rhinos scored a point in the south of France.

Two tries from Reimis Smith took the Dragons into the win column for the first time this season. The French side will want to take that form into the Challenge Cup against Featherstone Rovers next weekend.

Warrington Wolves 16-30 Wakefield Trinity

WARRINGTON WOLVES TRIES: Arron Lindop (4โ€˜), Alfie Johnson (25โ€˜), Josh Thewlis (65′)
WARRINGTON WOLVES GOALS: Thewlis x2
WAKEFIELD TRINITY TRIES: Jack Croft (18โ€˜), Liam Hood (28′), Matty Russell (45′), Matty Storton (54′), Caleb Hamlin-Uele (61′)
WAKEFIELD TRINITY GOALS: Max Jowitt x5

Warrington carried on their form from the Vegas spectacle with a loss to the up-and-coming Wakefield side.

Tries by Jack Croft and Liam Hood gave the Trin the lead at half-time and they pushed on after the break, especially with the adding of the extras. Max Jowitt was 100% from the kicking tee and led his side to their second win of the season, level on points with their opponents.

The Wolves have conceded 78 points in two games which makes them the third worst defence in the league so far (behind Castleford and Salford).

Wigan Warriors 44-18 Huddersfield Giants

WIGAN WARRIORS TRIES: Liam Farrell (9โ€˜), Zach Eckersley (51โ€˜), Liam Marshall (‘) , Bevan French (59โ€˜), Jake Wardle (78โ€˜), Jai Field(‘), Kruise Leeming (78โ€˜)
WIGAN WARRIORS GOALS: Adam Keighran x6
HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS TRIES: Adam Swift (12โ€˜), Sam Hewitt (25′), George Flanagan Jr (55′)
HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS GOALS: Liam Sutcliffe x3

The Champions carried on their form from Vegas as well but suffered a bit of a scare in the first half as Huddersfield took the lead going into the break and looked the better side in the majority of the first 40.

Second half tries from Liam Farrell, Liam Marshall, Bevan French, Jake Wardle, Jai Field and Kruise Leeming won the game for the Warriors and took them up to fourth in the table and with the second-best points difference (behind St Helens).

Field has been Wigan’s stand out performer this season and continued to show his impressive form in this fixture. The Australian has scored in every game bar the opening game and is on five tries in the last three games.
