MATCHDAY PREVIEW

A big match in Super League this week as the two teams who met in the Super League grand final last October meet again. Hull Kingston Rovers haven’t lost a competitive game since they lost at Old Trafford and will be looking to go six points clear of the reigning League Leaders seven rounds into the 2025 campaign.

The Robins will be without Man of Steel Mikey Lewis as he picked up a groin issue in last week’s Challenge Cup quarter-final win against Hull FC. KR Head Coach Willie Peters told the media this week that it will be monitored ‘week to week’.

Peters said, “He’s done a better part of the groin where it’s not as bad as if you strained or tore another part of it, so we’ve got some good news there. He won’t play this week. We’ll see how it settles for next week.”

It isn’t all doom and gloom as James Batchelor will be given every chance to play after missing out on last week’s cup derby due to a hamstring issue.

Wigan have had a hit and miss start this season but haven’t had their starting thirteen fully for the good part of a year and will now be without their two starting props for this crucial game and next week’s Good Friday clash with St Helens. Ethan Havard has been out for the entire season and Luke Thompson will be out for 3-4 weeks due to a calf strain picked up in the Warriors’ 54-0 win against Salford.

Head Coach Matt Peet told the Media that the Warriors will have to be at their best to beat the Robins away from home.

He said “Itโ€™s an exciting game. Weโ€™re going to have our hands full, and we know weโ€™ll have to be at our very best, but itโ€™s one that can bring that. Both teams have been involved in some great games โ€“ wins and loses โ€“ and Friday night will be another cracking game.โ€

Even without Lewis, Hull KR are strong enough to combat Wigan and with Jez Litten slotting in to replace the England International, The Robins should go even further in front of the Warriors as the reigning champions enter a crucial but difficult run of games.

MATCHDAY PREDICTION

Hull Kingston Rovers by 10 points.
