The second XXXX Derby, six months after the first one. There’s been some epic tight battles between these two, and – even if the Cowboys are struggling – they’ll want to embarrass their big cousins. It could even be another Golden Point thriller.
South Sydney v Sydney Roosters, TBC (Nine/Fox), Friday September 25
A scrumptious final round closer between these two old rivals. Souths upset the Roosters in the final regular season game last year, before the Roosters thumped them in the finals the following week. If the Roosters have a finals spot secure, Souths could shake them again, which could be crucial to their own finals hopes.
Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks v Canberra Raiders, TBC (Fox), Saturday September 26
Just like Manly, Cronulla find a way to get under Canberra’s skin. Both games last year were super close. Even if the Sharks don’t make the finals, they’ll be keen to upset Canberra both physically and mentally.
Wests Tigers v Parramatta Eels, TBC (Fox), Saturday September 26
Another big western Sydney game. Will the Tigers finish ninth again? Or will they finally go one better. A win over an assumable finals-bound Parramatta will help their cause.
