Jimmy Keinhorst will stay at Widnes after Leeds Rhinos agreed to extend his loan spell with the Vikings.

The centre, who can also play in the second row, made the move to the Halton Stadium last month on an initial four-week loan deal and made his debut in the 32-24 home defeat to Wigan on April 27th.

He also featured in the loss to fellow strugglers Huddersfield a week later but had to miss the Challenge Cup fixtures against Coventry Bears and Leeds as he was made unavailable by his parent club.

The new agreement will see the German international remain at Widnes unless he is recalled by Leeds at some stage later in the season, which they are free to do if required.

โ€œI was pleased to join Widnes Vikings on loan last month, giving me the opportunity to keep active and enjoy game time. Iโ€™ve really enjoyed my spell at the club, and I am excited to have this opportunity to continue to represent the Vikings further into this season.

“Iโ€™m looking forward to building some consistency, supporting the team to pick up points and climb the table,โ€ Keinhorst said.

Denis Betts was also clearly pleased that he will be able to continue to call upon the German international, telling the Vikings website: โ€œWe are grateful to Leeds for extending Jimmyโ€™s loan spell at the Vikings. Jimmy is a quality, experienced player, who adds real threat to our edges.

“As he continues to settle into the team, weโ€™ll begin to see the best of him. We are pleased to be able to extend the loan of someone of his ability.โ€
