Wakefield Trinity vs Catalans Dragons

Venue: Totally Wicked Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday 15th August, 4:15pm

Head-to-Head

Last Five Results: Catalans 44-10 Wakefield (06/07/19), Wakefield 18-25 Catalans (25/05/19), Wakefield 22-12 Catalans (21/02/19), Wakefield 34-22 Catalans (14/09/18), Wakefield 18-35 Catalans (07/07/18)

Preview

The opening game of the weekend is an intriguing one at the Totally Wicked Stadium, with Trinity beaten narrowly last time out and the Dragons claiming a stunning win against Castleford.

Chris Chester will be without flying winger Tom Johnstone who misses out with a shoulder injury, but does recall Ryan Hampshire, Jordy Crowther, Jack Croft and Lee Kershaw into his 21-man squad.

Steve McNamara has made three changes to his 21-man squad after their fine performance last weekend, with Sam Tomkins, David Mead and Michael McIlorum returning to the side.

Prediction

Both teams played some excellent rugby last weekend, with Catalans, in particular, catching the eye. Wakefield played well in their narrow defeat to Wigan, but Tom Johnstone will be sorely missed, and by contrast, the Dragons have three important first-team players returning to the side giving the French side the edge in this one.
