Canterbury-Bankstown (12 points, +66) are still top of the ladder after round 6.

Their two bye points kept them ahead of Melbourne (10, +90). Four teams are behind them on eight points: Brisbane (+56), Canberra (+36), South Sydney (-4), and the NZ Warriors (-20). The Wests Tigers (6, +28) and Manly Warringah (6, +22) round out the top eight.

Melbourne continued their dominance of the NZ Warriors with a huge win at AAMI Park. The Storm set up their 17th straight win over the New Zealanders with a 36-0 first half. They finished with seven tries, including two to Xavier Coates, and seven goals to Ryan Papenhuyzen.

Canberra won their first game in Darwin, putting a half-century on Parramatta at TIO Stadium. While they traditionally struggle in the heat and humidity, the Raiders learnt from their loss in Townsville two weeks ago and put Parramatta away early, leading 24-6 at half-time. Hudson Young scored two tries and Xavier Savage scored a rare penalty try (with Josh Addo-Carr ruled to have impeded Savage while chasing the ball and denying him a fair scoring opportunity). It’s the first time Canberra’s reached 50 points since round 25, 2022.

Cronulla-Sutherland and North Queensland both won at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Saturday. Samuel Stonestreet’s first half double set up Cronulla’s win over Manly Warringah. Trailing 14-0 early in the second half, Manly fought back through Clayton Faulalo and Luke Brooks (Brooks scoring a 90-metre intercept try), but Mawene Hiroti and Thomas Hazelton put the game away for the Sharks. The Cowboys beat South Sydney, with Jaxon Purdue scoring a double as they turned a 10-6 deficit into a 22-10 lead. Jye Gray got Souths within six points with eight minutes left before a Scott Drinkwater penalty goal sealed the Cowboys’ third straight win.

The Wests Tigers bounced back against Newcastle at McDonald Jones Stadium. Sunia Turuva, Starford To’a, Jahream Bula, and Adam Doueihi scored for the Tigers as they found winning form after losing at Suncorp Stadium last weekend. The Knights have only scored 10 points in the past three games.

Christian Tuipulotu and Tyrell Sloan both scored doubles in St George Illawarra’s big win over the Gold Coast at WIN Stadium, with Valentine Holmes scoring 14 points (a try and five goals).

A Hammer hat-trick guided The Dolphins to a comfortable win over Penrith at Suncorp Stadium. It was The Dolphins’ first win over Penrith in three attempts (despite Jack Bostock’s unfortunate in-goal error when he attempted to kick the ball dead but instead kicked it back in-field for Moses Leota to score). The Panthers have now lost five straight games: it’s their worst start since 2019, when they lost six in a row from rounds 5 to 10.

The Sydney Roosters won their second game of the season, beating Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium (and avenging their 50-14 loss to the Broncos in round 1). Billy Smith scored a first half double as the Roosters led 20-12 at half-time. Brisbane got within four points before Nat Butcher’s try in the 65th minute sealed the game.
