Warrington Wolves head coach Steve Price has confirmed that second-rower and England star Ben Currie will miss the remainder of 2018 after suffering a second anterior cruciate knee injury.

The 23-year old only recently returned from injury after aggravating his knee in February.

However, after falling awkwardly in a tackle during last week’s Challenge Cup victory over Bradford, Currie received the devastating news that he requires surgery once again.

Following the Wolves’ 38-4 win over Huddersfield on Friday night, Price stated that Currie will undergo and operation on Wednesday and that there is not yet a timescale for his return.

“Ben won’t play again this year,” Price said. It’s unfortunate in the way it happened.

“He’ll come back bigger and stronger as he’s got plenty of good years left.”
