Finn to finish career at Vikings
Hanson isn’t the only new arrival at the Halton Stadium, with another experienced figure moving in the shape of Wakefield half-back Liam Finn.
The Irish international has fallen out of favour at Trinity in recent months, and will now finish his career with a loan spell at Widnes before joining the coaching staff at the Mobile Rocket Stadium from next season.
Cummins said that “everybody is looking for good halves, and there aren’t many available, so we’re very pleased to have secured Liam’s services for the remainder of this season.
“Liam adds tremendous experience to the side and has shown an ability to control the game throughout his career. He is someone who always wants the ball in his hands, has real game sense, and knows how to handle different situations on the pitch.
“Importantly, Liam has had a massive influence on every team that he has been part of and made those places better – hopefully, he can have the same effect with us.”
Widnes’ transfer business was completed by the addition on deadline day of forward Charlie Gubb from Canberra Raiders in the NRL.
Cummins described him as “a no-nonsense front rower with an appetite for chasing people down”, adding that he “has the power and desire to assert himself on his opponents and, naturally, these are qualities that we want to add to our team.
“His signing, and the recent moves for Harrison Hansen and Liam Finn, have given us options and depth that we’ve lacked all season.”
Other Qualifiers sides make late signings
Salford are the final Super League side preparing for the Qualifiers, and after the recent signing of Jackson Hastings they brought in another NRL player on deadline day with the addition of Manly prop Joey Lussick.
The Red Devils’ head coach Ian Watson said that he is “a strong player to add to our group”.
“He can cover all our spinal positions and is a dominant organiser around the ruck with good deception and a great kicking game,” he added. “He is always high on the tackle count and really strong in defence.”
Neither Toronto nor London have made any new signings, but Toulouse have added to their squad with centre Arthur Romano joining from Catalans on loan for the remainder of the season.
Romano described the move as “a great opportunity for me and I’m ready to grab it. I want to help Toulouse achieve its goals. Paul [Seguier, also on loan from the Dragons] told me that he was very well received, so I cannot wait to arrive.”

Fax head coach Richard Marshall believes Wood has a great “utility value”, as “he can cover a number of positions – back row, centre, he can play half-back, he can kick – so he’s the type of player I like to work with.”
After the deadline the club also announced two further loan additions from Super League, with prop Jordan Baldwinson joining from Wakefield and back rower Liam Cooper arriving from St Helens.
